The Lawrenceburg Career Solutions Center is located at 1604 N. Locust Ave., Suite A, right next to the Goodwill Retail Store. We are open from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday – Friday. Cindy Smith is the career counselor and Susan Irvin is the administrative assistant. They are available to help clients learn basic computer skills, job search techniques and interview skills.

Career Solutions is the mission arm of Goodwill. The services offered through Career Solutions, for the most part are free for our clients and employers, thanks to the generosity of Goodwill’s donors and shoppers. More than 90 percent of the funds used to deliver Career Solutions services are generated through the sales of items donated to Goodwill. Without donors and shoppers in the community, we wouldn’t be able to offer these services. The Lawrenceburg Center is 1 of 17 Career Solutions Centers across middle and west Tennessee.


We serve 46 counties in middle and west Tennessee and have 31 retail stores and an outlet store in Nashville. We offer ease of donation with 67 Donation Express Centers, including one at each of our retail stores, located throughout the areas we serve. Goodwill relies on the generosity of our donors who provide us with gently-used items to sell in our retail stores. Donations move through our system from the point of donation to processing to determine quality, to prepare for retail and to our retail stores.  Each step along the way includes an employee who has a job because of that donation. Each employee on the retail side of the business is working because those items were donated to Goodwill. The income from the retail sales funds our mission of providing jobs, job training and services to people within each community we serve.

Our counselors are reaching out to businesses to form relationships so that we may not only fulfill their employment needs but also the needs of our job candidates, ultimately creating the perfect job match. Unlike many for-profit staffing agencies, Career Solutions services are free of charge, saving employers money, time and the additional burden of culling through hundreds of applicants. Once a placement is made, our counselors will remain in contact with the employer, and our client, to ensure a successful placement.

We are not a temp or placement agency, but a free service to the community to help job seekers develop their own job searching skills and a resource of information including job leads for our clients. Our services are for those who are actively job searching in the community, who want to develop their own job planning and searching skills, who want feedback on possible career choices based on their interests and aptitudes, who need assistance with resumes and interviewing skills, who want to improve their online application skills and who want to learn how to search for online postings effectively.

Many of the Tennesseans we serve are those in the community who are unemployed or under employed. They come through our doors seeking help due to many reasons, including layoffs, company downsizing, long

absences from the workforce, lack of GED or job skills, language barriers, disabilities, criminal backgrounds, and many other barriers people may face when seeking employment. It’s our mission to assist and place people into jobs that will be a best fit for the employer and the employee, ultimately supporting a company with fulfilling their needs while giving someone a chance to get back on their feet and into the workforce.

So why should all of this matter to employers?  Career Solutions has a wealth of potential employees for your organization who are trained, pre-screened and ready for work. Participants come from within our community so employers are providing job opportunities for neighbors and friends. When employers hire a participant they will have an employee who is work-ready, prepared and pre-screened. When employers partner with Career Solutions, they not only open the door to finding more qualified candidates for open positions, but they also support their community by helping many of their neighbors return to or enter the workforce.  It’s good business for employers, for our participants and our community.
